Utrecht shopping guide for interior and design lovers

Utrecht has a very compact city center which makes it perfect for shopping. Besides that, you won’t be disturbed by cars in Utrecht, since almost the whole center is a pedestrian zone. Do watch out for cyclists though, they are everywhere, always in a hurry and always want you to get out of the way. I will share some of my favorite shops and will update when I get back again.

Dille & Kamille

My very first job was at Dille & Kamille. This is where I learned about how to use every single kitchen utensil, how to gift-wrap like a pro and learned a little bit about styling. Dille & Kamille sells everything for in- and around the house; a lot of handy kitchen utensils, cute stationary and even plants.

The classical music, the nice aroma’s and very friendly staff 🙂 make the shop feel peaceful and calm. Make sure you’ll be there on time, it can get very crowded during the weekends.

What to buy:

• Milky Oolong tea
• Kruidendrop (licorice, my all time favorite)
• Small notebook

Hutspot

After starting off in Amsterdam with two shops, Hutspot opened it’s doors in Utrecht as well. The shop offers brands, artists, designers and entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their unique products at their own place within the shop. They have a keen eye for trends and quality products which makes the store so interesting for customers.

What to buy:

• Libbey hobstar glass
• The Cool Club playing cards
• Stoned marble coasters

Daen’s

Daen’s sells organic beauty products, a bunch of interesting books and designer clothes for the fashionable ladies and gents. Some of brands you will find at Daen’s are Anecdote, Denham, Samsøe & Samsøe and L:a Bruket. If you’re getting hungry you can eat something in the cafe next door. They serve delicious sandwiches with hummus, mackrel and goatcheese. Yum!

Strand west

Strand west is one of my all-time favorite shops in Utrecht. Their collection is always inspirational and just a little different from the rest. Besides selling incredible designer furniture and accessories they can also provide you with the best interior advice.
